At Pixel Paws, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our macOS virtual pet application ('Pixel Paws' or the 'App').

To provide the virtual pet experience, we store data both locally on your device and collect anonymous analytics data. We do not collect personally identifiable information. The data we collect includes:

Local Data (Stored on Your Device)

• Pet Data: We store your pet's name, age, and its core stats (hunger, happiness, energy) to make the simulation work.
• Game Progress: To save your progress, we store information like the date you last opened the app and whether you have completed the onboarding flow.
• Purchase Information: If you choose to upgrade to the premium version, a record of your purchase is stored locally on your device to unlock premium features. This is managed through Apple's App Store; we do not collect or store your payment information.

Analytics Data (Anonymous)

To improve the app and understand how users interact with Pixel Paws, we collect anonymous analytics data using PostHog (hosted in the EU). This data is not linked to your identity and includes:

• Anonymous User ID: A random identifier (UUID) generated on your device that is not linked to any personal information.
• Usage Events: Actions you take in the app (e.g., feeding your pet, completing onboarding steps, viewing premium features).
• Pet Name: The name you give your pet (used for analytics insights).
• App Information: App version, macOS version, selected pet type, premium status, and preference settings.
• Purchase Data: Information about premium purchase attempts and completion (product ID, price, purchase source).

Important: We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use advertising identifiers. All analytics data is anonymous and used solely to improve Pixel Paws.

Your locally-stored information is used solely to:

• Provide the core virtual pet experience.
• Save your pet's state and your progress in the game.
• Personalize the app with your pet's name.
• Restore premium features you have purchased.

Your anonymous analytics data is used to:

• Understand how users interact with the app and which features are most popular.
• Identify and fix bugs or issues in the user experience.
• Improve onboarding and user engagement.
• Optimize the premium purchase experience.
• Make data-driven decisions about future features and improvements.

Analytics data is never used for advertising purposes or sold to third parties.

We share limited data with the following trusted third parties:

• Apple, Inc.: To process In-App Purchases for our premium upgrade, we use Apple's StoreKit service. The transaction is handled entirely by Apple's secure App Store platform. We do not have access to your payment details. We only receive a confirmation that the purchase was successful to unlock your premium features.
• PostHog (EU Cloud - Frankfurt): We use PostHog, an open-source analytics platform, to collect anonymous usage data. PostHog is hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany) and is GDPR compliant. The data sent to PostHog is anonymous and includes usage events, app settings, and anonymous identifiers. We do not sell your data or share it with any other third parties for marketing purposes. Your analytics data is used exclusively for improving Pixel Paws.

Pixel Paws uses PostHog for anonymous analytics to help us understand how users interact with the app and improve the user experience. Here's what you should know:

• Anonymous Only: We use a randomly generated anonymous identifier (UUID) that is not linked to your identity or any personal information.
• No Cross-App Tracking: We do not track your activity across other apps or websites. Analytics is limited to Pixel Paws only.
• No Advertising: We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or share data with advertising networks.
• No App Tracking Transparency Required: Because our analytics is anonymous, first-party only, and not used for advertising, we do not require the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission.
• GDPR Compliant: Analytics data is stored in the EU (Frankfurt) and complies with GDPR regulations.

You can use Pixel Paws with confidence knowing that your privacy is protected and your data is handled responsibly.

Local Data: All your app data (pet's name, stats, game progress) is stored locally on your device. This data is retained until you uninstall the app.

Analytics Data: Anonymous analytics data collected via PostHog is retained for up to 7 years to enable long-term analysis of app performance and user behavior trends. This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you. If you would like your analytics data deleted, please contact us at support@builtby.es with your anonymous user ID (visible in the app settings in debug mode).

We are committed to protecting your data. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you are in control. We use secure, standard Apple frameworks (StoreKit) to handle In-App Purchases.

In-App Purchases: When you make an In-App Purchase, the transaction data is processed by Apple and may be transferred internationally as part of their standard operations.

Analytics Data: Anonymous analytics data is stored exclusively in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany) via PostHog's EU Cloud. This data does not leave the EU and complies with GDPR requirements. We do not transfer your analytics data to countries outside the EU.

Under GDPR and applicable privacy laws, you have the following rights:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of the anonymous analytics data we have collected about your usage.
• Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your analytics data from our PostHog instance. Contact us at support@builtby.es with your anonymous user ID.
• Right to Delete Local Data: Delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the application from your device.
• Right to Object: While we do not currently offer an opt-out for analytics within the app, you can request data deletion at any time.

Our service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
